DESCRIPTION

01

Ringling is a light that spreads to every corner of Sarasota, permanently changing it throughout.

A title sequence concept for Ringling Motion Design Department's annual conference: Future Proof. Originally designed in 2021, I reworked it in 2024 to be more in line with my original vision.

PROCESS

A guiding hand gently nudged me to the finish line...

My first attempt at this project was during my junior year of college. I had a stellar professor, Peter Alfano, helping me develop it. I'd credit Peter with inspiring the designer within me, as before, I wasn't interested in more than creating cool explosions or particle effects.

So, in this project, there aren't a lot of "technical" components to discuss. Truly, every shot is a simple structure, a light or two, and a daylight object. I felt that the idea of spreading light throughout the city where the college campus is located was delightful! However, throughout the process of designing the sequence, I often got lost trying to make things more complicated than needed.

Peter grounded me, and pointed me toward a fundamental design principle, CONTRAST! Since that project, I've tried to keep contrast at the forefront of my mind. It's the baseline rule of how to make things interesting, visually, or conceptually. I wanted to make sure, in my remake of it, that it stayed high contrast, and elevated.

SCOPE

8 weeks originally / 1 week for the remaster

CREDITS
