I asked Kevin early in 2024 if he'd be around to help me put this website together. He was enthusiastic, and we shot for the summer. Initially, we were looking to include plenty of handwritten details throughout the site, but for our timeline it ended up being unfeasible.

Despite the hurdles, we managed to cook something not only beautiful, but also sustainable.

Shooting High

In my mind, contrast is the fundamental visual truth. When thinking about how to continue pushing my brand, I immediately jumped to using handwritten elements. A digital cake with analog sprinkles. It seemed like a perfect direction to showcase my work.

Pre Dev

We considered early on what interactions with the site would feel like. We focused intently on creating moments of delight while making sure nothing we came up with would create friction.

A wonderful piece of feedback I got from an old partner of mine, is that my art looks best on a big screen. Each page was designed with that feedback in mind, especially since most video watching happens on mobile these days.

Being both a designer and a developer presented numerous challenges, but it also led to many valuable learning experiences. One of the biggest challenges in building the website involved two key aspects.

Being both a designer and a developer presented numerous challenges, but it also led to many valuable learning experiences. One of the biggest challenges in building the website involved two key aspects. — The first was creating the CMS to be as efficient and organized as possible. With over 200 different forms of media spread across numerous pages and layouts, I anticipated this would be quite challenging.

The second challenge was writing code to achieve specific functionalities. As I am not a developer by heart and only have foundational coding knowledge, developing code, including various GSAP and scroll trigger functions, tested my abilities.

Ensuring everything was optimized across all devices and verifying that all code functioned properly was a back-and-forth process, especially given the occasional limitations of Webflow. Despite these challenges, I was able to accomplish most of my goals within the given timeline. I am very proud of what I was able to create with Gabe.
